The ANZAC troops who stormed the Turkish shore at Ari Burnu (now Anzac Cove), Gallipoli on 25 April 1915 were the finest troops ever assembled by the Australian Imperial Force (AIF) and the New Zealand Expeditionary Force (NZEF). The adversity they faced and courage they displayed during their ill-fated campaign became foundations of the proud national identities of the two new countries.
