Royal Australian Air Force Poppy ANZAC Day Gold Lapel Pin Badge
At the outbreak of the First World War Australia was the only dominion of the British Empire with its own flying corps for military service. Back then the Australian Flying Corps was part of the Australian Imperial Force, but in January 1920 the AFC was replaced by the Australian Air Corps - a dedicated and independent air force.
On 31 March 1921 this became the Australian Air Force and on 13 August of that year, after Royal Decree, it became the Royal Australian Air Force. All who have served in Air Force share this proud heritage of service. Badge Fixes with a butterfly clip.
Pin measures approx 18mm high.
